Learn how to provide access to your Citizens Bank account, so we can set up and maintain your bank feed in Xero and download statements monthly.
To give an accountant access to a Citizen Checking and Savings account, use Citizens Bank’s digital platform to create a "Sub User" with separately managed login credentials and tailored permissions, including view-only access if needed.
Steps to Grant Access
-
Log In to Citizens Digital Banking: The primary account holder (called the "Super User") must log in to Citizens’ digital banking portal to manage user permissions.
-
Add a Sub User: The Super User can add one or more "Sub Users" (such as an accountant), each with their own User ID and password, through the user management or security settings in the account.
-
Set Permissions: The Super User chooses which accounts and functions (view, statement access, transfers, bill payments, etc.) the Sub User can access. Only view permissions are necessary, which allows access to balances, transactions, check images, and digital statements, but not account management.
-
Notify and Manage: The accountant receives instructions for their own login setup. Access can be reviewed and revoked as needed.
Security Considerations
-
Never share your main login credentials. Always use official access management features for third parties.
-
Assign only the permissions your accountant truly needs, reducing the risk of unauthorized access.
Granting Sub User or view-only access within Citizens Bank Digital Banking ensures the accountant can access the information necessary for their work without compromising security.
